A Son’s Love for Presbyterian Home at Williamsport

For Charles Cooper and his family, the Presbyterian Home at Williamsport, is far more than a place; it is a source of comfort, stability, and deep gratitude.
Charles’ connection to PSL began a few years ago when his mother became a resident at the Presbyterian Home at Williamsport. With both of his sisters living in Williamsport and his mother previously residing nearby in Cogan Station, the move felt close to home, even as Charles himself lives several states away. What initially seemed like a temporary solution soon became something much more meaningful.
“The Presbyterian Home at Williamsport has been a much-needed answer to our mother’s living situation,” Charles shares. The transition addressed not only her housing needs, but also her social well-being and healthcare. While the family once hoped she might return to her former home, his mother has found peace in knowing she is exactly where she needs to be. Today, she is thriving—and her family is deeply grateful that she is safe, supported, and cared for.
This firsthand experience is why Charles and his family support the Presbyterian Home at Williamsport with their time, talent, and treasure, giving to the unrestricted Mission-Supporting Gifts fund. They believe deeply in the mission and have seen it fulfilled in real, tangible ways. Their giving is an expression of trust and gratitude— supporting an organization that faithfully serves those who cannot meet their own needs.
Over time, their decision has been affirmed again and again. The staff, the facilities, and the community of residents have all played an important role in helping his mother transition from independent living to this new chapter. Her comfort and satisfaction have reassured the family that they made the right choice.
Two individuals in particular stand out for their exceptional impact: Renee Moore, the Administrator at Presbyterian Home at Williamsport, and Gina, the Director of Activities. Although Charles’s sisters have the most frequent, day-to-day contact with the staff, Charles makes a point to connect with Renee and Gina whenever he visits. Even from a distance, through phone calls and periodic visits, their kindness and professionalism shine through.
“They are so kind and loving, and they are both excellent at what they do,” Charles says. His respect for their leadership runs especially deep because of his own professional background. Early in his career, Charles worked as a healthcare administrator in nursing homes and assisted living communities, giving him firsthand insight into what it takes to successfully run such organizations. “Renee does it extremely well,” he notes, adding that what matters most is knowing that she—and the entire staff—genuinely care about his mother.
For Charles and his family, Presbyterian Home in Williamsport is not just a community—it is a blessing, lived out every day in the care of someone they love.
