Celebrating Generosity at Westminster Woods

Mission Support & Philanthropy

On August 28, Mission Support welcomed residents and team members to the Westminster Woods Donor Appreciation Reception. Held in The Terrace Fellowship Room, the gathering celebrated those who made financial contributions in 2025 and provided an opportunity to reflect on the impact of philanthropy throughout the community.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees enjoyed food, fellowship, and meaningful conversations about what inspires them to support Westminster Woods and Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL).

Dan Davis, President and CEO of PSL, thanked donors for continuing a legacy of generosity that began nearly 100 years ago with the vision and philanthropy of Ellen Parker, whose gift laid the foundation for what would become Presbyterian Senior Living. He reminded guests that their support continues that tradition today, helping to strengthen communities and improve lives.

Bethanie Constant, Vice President of Mission Support, shared the tangible impact of donor generosity at Westminster Woods. In 2025, donor-supported funds helped 6 residents receive more than $306,000 in Resident Assistance, allowing them to remain in the community they call home. Another 45 residents benefited from PSL's commitment to covering the gap between the cost of care and medical assistance reimbursement rates, totaling more than $3.1 million.

"In 2025, when you include all gifts given to Westminster Woods from residents, friends, family, team members, and others — the total came to $46,357,” Bethanie shared. "Your generosity helps meet the needs of neighbors and friends, supports our dedicated team members, and enhances our community in meaningful ways.”

Donor support also provided emergency grants, totaling $2,250, to 3 Westminster Woods team members facing unexpected hardships, offering critical assistance during difficult times, from the Team Member Assistance Fund.

One of the afternoon's highlights came from resident and donor Martha Swigart, who reflected on why she chooses to give.

"I am drawn to the PSL mission to provide compassionate, vibrant, and supportive communities and services to promote wholeness of body, mind, and spirit," Martha shared. "I experience the mission being alive here at Westminster Woods and want it to thrive."

Martha spoke about the many opportunities donors have to support causes they care about, from Resident Assistance and scholarships to community enhancements and team member support.

"I like the choices we have in giving to PSL and the guidance Mission Support provides by explaining these choices," she said. "I know that mission support through unrestricted giving holds top priority with PSL. There are areas that can be strengthened right here in our Westminster Woods community by our financial gifts."

"It is not a happy accident that I've come to feel that this community is my home," Martha said. "Sound planning and purposeful leadership help make Westminster Woods the place it is today, and I want to support the mission guiding this work."

Executive Director Tara Robison concluded the program by thanking donors for their partnership and recognizing Westminster Woods team members who also contribute financially to support their community and colleagues with gifts totaling $1,010.

The reception served as a powerful reminder that philanthropy at Westminster Woods is about more than financial support. It is an expression of gratitude, compassion, and shared commitment to ensuring that Westminster Woods remains a vibrant, caring community for generations to come.
