Celebrating the Generosity that Strengthens Ware Presbyterian Village
Mission Support & Philanthropy
On October 1, residents, team members, and supporters gathered in the Conference Room at Ware Presbyterian Village for a special Donor Appreciation Reception. The event brought together those who made gifts in 2025 to celebrate the impact of their generosity and to express heartfelt gratitude for their commitment to the Ware community.
Guests enjoyed refreshments, fellowship, and inspiring stories that highlighted how philanthropy is making a meaningful difference in the lives of residents and team members.
A Legacy of Generosity
Dan Davis, President and CEO of Presbyterian Senior Living, reflected on the deep roots of philanthropy that helped establish PSL nearly a century ago. He shared the story of Ellen Parker, whose remarkable gift of her estate helped lay the foundation for what would eventually become Presbyterian Senior Living and communities such as Ware Presbyterian Village.
"That single act of philanthropy set in motion a mission that has touched countless lives for nearly a century," Davis said. "And it continues today for one simple reason: people like you."
He reminded guests that every gift contributes directly to the purpose for which it was given, supporting residents, empowering team members, strengthening community, and enriching lives.
The Impact of Resident Assistance
Bethanie Constant, Vice President of Mission Support, highlighted the impact of the Resident Assistance fund, sharing that in 2025, 16 Ware Presbyterian Village residents received more than $587,000 in support for housing fees, meals, health insurance premiums, medical care, and other essential needs. She also noted that PSL provided more than $3.5 million to help cover the gap between the cost of care and medical assistance reimbursement rates for 53 residents, ensuring neighbors could continue to receive the care and support they need.
Guests heard moving testimonials from residents whose lives have been impacted by this support. One resident shared how assistance provided peace of mind after the loss of a spouse and declining income, allowing them to remain in the home and community they love. Another expressed gratitude for being able to live safely and comfortably while continuing to enjoy the services, care, and community life that make Ware Presbyterian Village feel like home.
Constant also celebrated the generosity of the Ware community, noting that gifts from residents, team members, and other supporters totaled $81,145 in 2025.
"We know you have many choices in your personal philanthropy, and we are deeply grateful for your investment in this outstanding community," she said.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Resident, donor, and volunteer Jim Horn shared a deeply personal story that illustrated the power of compassion and community.
Drawing from his own experiences navigating financial hardship while caring for his late wife through her battles with cancer and diabetes and raising five adopted children with special needs, Horn reflected on the profound impact that generosity and community support can have during life's most challenging seasons.
"I am glad to contribute to the Resident Assistance fund when I can because Ware Presbyterian Village shows up for each other," he said.
His message centered on the belief that generosity is about more than financial gifts. It is also about creating a community where people care for one another, foster belonging, and ensure that no one is left behind.
Recognizing Team Member Philanthropists
Executive Director Michelle Loucks concluded the program by thanking donors and team members for their partnership and emphasizing that philanthropy at Ware Presbyterian Village truly involves the entire community.
Together, team member gifts totaled $1,285.
Thank You for Making a Difference
The Donor Appreciation Reception served as a powerful reminder that philanthropy is not simply about dollars raised. It is about people helping people. It is about neighbors caring for neighbors. It is about ensuring that residents can continue to call Ware Presbyterian Village home, supporting dedicated team members, and strengthening a community built on compassion and purpose.
To every donor who contributed in 2025, thank you. Your generosity is helping create a stronger, more vibrant Ware Presbyterian Village today and for generations to come.
