Keeping the Mission in View: Celebrating Cindy Fox's Retirement

From Our Leadership

Retirement marks the end of a career chapter, but it is also an opportunity to celebrate the impact a person leaves behind. That spirit was on full display during the fall Administrative Office team meeting, where colleagues honored Cindy Fox, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, and recognized the many contributions she has made to Presbyterian Senior Living over the past 16 years.

Since joining PSL in 2010, Cindy has served as Corporate HR Director, Vice President of Employee Relations, Vice President of Human Resources, and most recently Senior Vice President of Human Resources. She brought more than 30 years of human resources experience to that work, guiding everything from talent acquisition and compensation to employee relations and performance management. Behind every one of those responsibilities was something simpler: Cindy cared about the people who make this mission possible.

A Leader Who Invested in People

Dan Davis, President and CEO, reflected on the close connection he and Cindy have built over the years. He shared how much he values having genuinely gotten to know her, not just as a colleague but as a person. That trust, he noted, made a real difference when working through the difficult decisions that come with leading an organization like ours. Leadership can be a lonely place, and having a friend whose judgment and heart you trust is a gift.

A Lasting Reminder of Why We Serve

When Cindy took the floor, she didn't talk about her accomplishments. She talked about the work.

She reminded everyone in the room that what we do matters. And she challenged the team to stay focused on that meaning, to never lose sight of the fact that we serve residents in their home.

Sozed_2_IMG_7695Coming at the end of a meeting focused on progress and results, her words offered a fitting perspective. The numbers and milestones matter because of what they make possible. For residents, a PSL community is not a workplace or a facility. It is where they wake up each morning, share meals with friends, celebrate accomplishments, enjoy enriching opportunities and find comfort on hard days. The work done at the Administrative Office can feel far removed from those moments, but it isn't. Every policy, every budget line, and every plan eventually reaches someone's home. Keeping that in view is what turns daily tasks into meaningful work. That is the reminder Cindy left with the room, and it is one worth carrying forward long after her last day.

Thank you, Cindy, for your wisdom, your steady presence, and your reminder of why we are here. We wish you a joyful and well-deserved retirement.
