Earlier this year, Kristi Sjoholm-Sierchio, a resident of Glen Meadows in Glen Arm, Maryland, was named Presbyterian Senior Living’s 2026 Altruism Award winner, recognizing her as PSL’s volunteer of the year. Now, her service has been honored at the state level.
On Sunday, October 25, Kristi received the 2026 Caritas Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (PAHSA). The award was presented during PAHSA’s Fall Gathering aboard The Moshulu, the historic tall ship docked along Philadelphia’s waterfront, held in conjunction with the LeadingAge National Convention.

Caritas is Latin for loving kindness toward others. PAHSA presents the award to an individual or group within its member organizations whose service reflects the call to love God and neighbor and strengthens the wellbeing of the senior living community around them. For those who know Kristi, it is a fitting description.
A retired attorney, Kristi gave 1,283 volunteer hours in 2025 alone. She chairs the Finance Committee of the Glen Meadows Foundation, leads Morning Prayer in the chapel each day, and brings birthday celebrations in song to residents in the Healthcare and Assisted Living neighborhoods. As a Foundation board member, she helped revitalize the Foundation after the pandemic and guided the board to a unanimous decision to dedicate half of its available funds each year to the Glen Meadows Resident Assistance Fund. That commitment produced a $17,000 gift in 2025 and grew to $18,000 in 2026. Her leadership continues to have a significant impact on philanthropic giving across the Glen Meadows community.
