In just 1,927 minutes, generous donors helped raise an extraordinary $58,924.27 for the Resident Assistance Fund!
This total includes a $20,000 challenge gift and $38,924.27 contributed during the Founder’s Day campaign to support the Resident Assistance fund, helping ensure that residents and villagers who have outlived their resources and can no longer fully afford the services or care they need can continue to live in the PSL communities they call home.
Founder’s Day celebrates the establishment of Presbyterian Senior Living’s first community, Green Ridge Village, Newville, PA, by Ellen Parker in 1927 and honors nearly a century of compassionate care, service, and community. From 8:00 a.m. on September 17 through 4:07 p.m. on September 18, supporters participated in a generosity marathon demonstrating the power of a community united around a shared mission.
The success of this year’s campaign was made possible by the generosity of donors and a $20,000 challenge gift from a generous supporter that inspired others to give.
Every gift, regardless of size, played a role in reaching this remarkable milestone. Together, donors helped provide more than financial assistance. They provided comfort during uncertain times, peace of mind for the future, and the reassurance that no resident or villager must face life's challenges alone.
One resident’s story reminds us why this support matters:
“When my spouse passed away, my income was reduced, and it became hard to manage costs. I applied to receive Resident Assistance and at that point in time I ran out of money. PSL was there to help and enabled me to stay in my home and continue to age in place. Years ago, I made a gift to the fund, not thinking I would need it. I am grateful for the donors who provide support, so people like me who have long made a home here can stay.”
