Ellen Celestial

Ellen Celestial has been working as a Dietitian since 2005, with employment in PSL communities since 2015. She is presently the Regional Support Registered Dietitian for PSL. She has her Master’s Degree in Gerontology from Hood College and Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition from Virginia Tech with the Dietetic Internship Certificate from Idaho State University. Ellen lives in Chambersburg, PA with her husband, two sons and several pets. She volunteers as the President of her children’s school’s School Board and enjoys planning monthly family gatherings with her adult step-daughters and their families.

National Nutrition Month – Fuel for the Future

March is known as National Nutrition Month and this year’s theme is “Fuel for the Future.” This can be interpreted in multiple ways. Over recent years dietitians have been fighting the negative stigma of being viewed as the “food police”. We have worked to change people’s attitudes about food as something to be feared or feel guilty about, to food being fuel and a celebration of our cultures. We educate and encourage because we want people to live not just longer, but healthier, longer lives as they age.
